What Makes Us Different…

Connection Over Compliance

The traditional methods that most of us (including myself) learned in our professional training and that used in most therapeutic and educational settings are based on the Medical Model of Disability, which focuses on remediating deficits and eliminating symptoms.

We use a STRENGTHS-BASED approach. This means we incorporate the child’s interests into therapy to engage them and encourage them to use their strengths to develop and build functional, meaningful skills.

We don’t believe that compliance should ever be the goal of therapy.  We believe that behavior is a form of communication and that behaviorally-focused, compliance-based therapies and curriculums are detrimental to Neurodivergent kids.  Kids cooperate and behave well when they can and when they find meaning in what they are being asked to do.   Only when they feel safe and well-regulated, can we see what they are truly ready to learn.

Instead of focusing on compliance, our first priority is building trust and establishing a connection with your child.
